Rock Art Enhancer

This amazingly useful app for archaeologists and enthusiasts allows you to quickly and easily enhance rock art in the field. It accentuates colours to make faint drawings, stencils, and pictographs much more visible.

The app uses a variety of advanced techniques including decorrelation stretch, histogram equalization, saturation increase, and hue/brightness matching. In many cases, motifs which are barely visible to the naked eye will pop out clearly as you cycle through the enhancement modes, and some really faint art which you could not even see will become visible for the first time.

The app can enhance photos that you have already taken, or can enhance a live video feed from your phone's camera in real time. The live mode enables you to move your phone over a rock surface and rapidly detect faint art that may be worthy of further study. Your phone's flash light can also be turned on from within the app to illuminate the rock surface in poor lighting conditions.
