Smooth KML

This tool reads waypoints and tracks from a KML file, smoothes the tracklog using a gaussian filter, and writes the data out to a new KML file which can then be loaded in Google Earth.

Smoothing is useful if you want to clean up your tracklogs before sharing them with others. A lot of the sharp corners in GPS tracklogs are due to inaccuracy in the reported GPS location rather than actual features of the route, so this tool allows these irregularities to be filtered out.

Below is an example showing the raw GPS tracklog (red) and the smoothed tracklog (yellow).
