Handy GPS - Satellites Screen
This screen graphically shows the locations of the GPS satellites which are currently above the horizon.
Color coding is used to show the signal strength of each satellite. High signal strength is represented with green, medium with yellow, and low with grey.
Satellites which are not being used in the current GPS fix are shown as hollow circles. The ID number of each satellite is shown below it.
The elevation of a satellite in the sky is represented by its distance from the centre of the screen.
A satellite which is directly overhead will be drawn at the centre. A satellite which is 45 degrees above the horizon will be shown on the central ring,
and a satellite which is on the horizon will be shown on the outer ring.
The azimuth of each satellite is shown by its angle from true-north on the screen.
If you want to work out where the satellites are in the sky above you, you will need to orient your device so that the "N" at the top of the screen faces towards true north.
To help with this, a menu item is provided to bring up the compass page. (Note however, that the compass shows magnetic north rather than true north).
